The Government's hastily called public meeting on Wednesday 16 June revealed ongoing concerns about the planned Gas Power Station and Data Centre at Macarthur.

According to Community Alliance Party candidate James Sizer and communications director Owen Saddler, the lack of trust for government's intention for genuine consultation was palpable. A concern reinforced by a view that a health impact assessment with no statutory power is an inadequate replacement for a full environmental impact statement.

Audience members were assertive in putting a number of difficult questions to the appointed panel. After continued pressure from the audience, it was a question from Mr Saddler that finally forced the ACT Government representative, Mr Mark Cormack, CEO of ACT Health to give an assurance that the panel's report would be made public. read more...
