Best known for his community health development work in West Belconnen, the Flynn school campaign and youth and sporting associations, Roger Nicoll has lived in Belconnen for 40 years and been actively involved in community life. Roger is married with two children and lives in Flynn.

As Chair of the West Belconnnen Health Co-op, Roger is heading up the community’s effort to attract bulk-billing doctors and allied health and wellbeing services to West Belconnen. He also promotes a strong and safe community through the local Neighbourhood Watch.

Roger is the founder of the Legends - Men ‘N’ Kids program and the Men ‘N’ Kids breakfast and has been involved with local families through West Belconnen Good Beginnings parenting, and school, and community youth programs. He has visited Russia several times since 2001 to encourage and support orphans and other young people.

Roger has worked extensively as a journalist, administrator and manager in public and private sectors, most recently as an environmental communications consultant with the family business.

Roger is a past ACT and Australian orienteering champion, a foundation member of the Belconnen Soccer Club and a current soccer coach with the Belwest Foxes.

Since attending the first day of Aranda Primary School, Roger has graduated from Canberra High, Hawker College and the University of Canberra, and helped out at his children’s schools - Flynn Primary and St Monica’s Primary School Evatt.

Through his grassroots community involvement Roger understands the pressures on families and want to do something positive about it.
