News today that two Community Alliance Party candidates are to be supported by the Canberra Business Club was welcomed today by the Community Alliance President, Ric Hingee. "We are delighted that the business and wider community are increasingly putting their confidence in the Community Alliance as evidenced by today's announcement of support by the Canberra Business Club (CBC). The CBC announced today that it would help support advertising costs for Community Alliance candidates, Val Jeffery in Brindabella and Norvan Vogt in Molonglo. "It is clear that the CBC can see value in the independence, stability and accountability that the Community Alliance will bring to the ACT Assembly", Mr Hingee said. "The business community is yet another community that has suffered under majority government and is looking to the Community Alliance for a better outcome in the next Assembly." The Community Alliance candidates accepted CBC's support on the basis that there could be 'no strings attached' in line with the party's underlying philosophy, according to Mr Hingee. "Each day more Canberrans are seeing the Community Alliance as a viable option and the CBC funding will help that. The funding is a drop in the ocean compared to the massive campaign budgets of Liberal and Labor, in particular, which has funded most of its campaign through taxpayer-funded advertising boosted by proceeds from poker machines." "We are certainly not on a level-playing field but its clear that our open and back-to-basics approach is striking a chord with ACT residents who have had enough of majority rule," Mr Hingee said.
